| Name: | Angela Petrelli |
|---|
Biography:
The world was changing rapidly, and with it, its people. Angela was among them. A revolutionary spirit was in the air. There were others like Angela who felt that their talents meant they had a greater responsibility to humanity than regular humans. A young man who served with Angela's husband in Vietnam, Linderman, felt very similarly. Linderman himself possessed a talent that Angela found extraordinary, even among them: the ability to heal others. With Linderman, Kaito Nakamura, and Charles Deveaux, Angela helped lay the ground work for the future: a world that existed in peace. Angela and Linderman agreed that her young son, Nathan, would prove to be instrumental in bringing a positive change to the world. They knew their plans needed to be enacted with a steady hand, but not too quickly. Patience was an imperative. By way of a system and then a company which Linderman devised, they were able to track and catalog others. As a new race, they needed viable offspring to flourish. Upon identifying people with talents, they began devising plans to match individuals. If the match was successful and a child was produced, they would watch the children closely and continue the tradition they started with the parents.
In the late 70s and early 80s, that's when things started separating. They had always followed the same path, held the same goals, but a wedge began to form. Her dear friend Charles started to question some of the work they were doing. When he was born, Angela knew that Peter would be used to help Nathan, but Charles disagreed, saying that the son who would change the world was Peter. Charles left the coterie and the group that was soon crumbled. Angela and Kaito held to their relations with Linderman, staying to their mission.
Angela did not see Charles for a long time, not until 2006 when her friend was dying. He gave her the same argument as he had before, and this time gave her things with certainty, and more of an idea about Peter's role.
Angela worked even harder on ensuring that Peter played his role for his brother. She tried to cause more doubt within Peter's mind and regularly gave him disapproval for his need to love. Claire, Nathan's illegitimate daughter, her ace in the hole, surfaced, and turned out to be just as stubborn about Peter as her father is. Claire had been one of her own pet projects, a 'folly' which added more power over her son, even when he himself didn't know of her existence. Angela was thankful for her ace when Claire's ability allowed Peter to live when she thought all their planning had fallen through.
No, it all fell through during what should have been her son's finest hour. Nathan broke away from her, flying off to find his brother. She had hoped that her son's sense would return, but when the explosion happened above NYC, she knew the choice her son had made.
Now her sons and Claire are gone and she's attempting to rebuild what she once possessed. Heidi and her two sons have become immensely important to her agenda. With New York's freshman Congressman listed as missing for a month, she's looking at options for her future.
Personality:
Hard, cold, and almost always only speaks to the point, Angela Petrelli does every action with clear precision. No action is made without a purpose. She is someone who has placed trifles, like feelings, to the side so the future will prevail. She knows more about what's going on than others. She also has a knack for speaking hurtful truths.
Other personal bits:
Angela speaks French fluently
She has a Jackie O image about her, dressing in a style, usually in black and white, reminiscent of the former first lady. She tries maintaining a "presidential" air
She may or may not have multiple Company people working for her, including the Haitian
Petty theft makes her feel alive
She may have lied about the father of her sons, but she isn't saying
Her relationship with her eldest son is an interesting one. She's overly involved in Nathan's life, but not in a demonstrative way. It hardly even resembles the relationship of a son and a mother
Despite her better intentions, it is partly her fault for her sons being so close
